CAMPUS SUMMARY
Willamette University was founded by missionaries in 1842, making it the oldest university west of the Missouri River. Our missionary heritage is evident in the school motto, "Not unto ourselves alone are we born," and the legacy of service that is pervasive on the Willamette campus today. Located just blocks from the Willamette River and literally across the street from the State Capitol in Salem, Oregon, Willamette is home to approximately 1850 undergraduates majoring in more than 40 disciplines chosen from social sciences, sciences and math, humanities, and fine and performing arts. The University also includes a law school, a graduate school of management (MBA) and a teaching certification program (Master of Arts in Teaching).
